Ryan Hungerford, MD
Dr. Hungerford is a fellowship-trained physician, and is board-certified in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism. As an endocrinologist, he cares for patients with a variety of endocrine disorders including thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, osteoporosis, and adrenal dysfunction, among many others. He holds certification in thyroid and neck ultrasonography (ECNU) and has served on both the ECNU Examination Writing Committee and served as chair of the ECNU program, writing examination questions and reviewing submissions from endocrinologists throughout the country. He later served as the chair of the Thyroid Resource Center for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. He holds additional certification in bone density (DXA) interpretation, and is an authorized user of radioactive iodine for the treatment of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer. He is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, serves on the organization’s advocacy committee, and is the past Vice President of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology.
Dr. Hungerford’s interests include population-based health research and he will begin a Master’s in Public Health (MPh) program through Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, beginning January 2027, with hopes of enhancing medical care for those with endocrine diseases in Southern Oregon.
DR. HUNGERFORD’S SPECIAL INTERESTS INCLUDE THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF:
- Thyroid disorders including Graves’ disease and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
- Thyroid cancer, including radioactive iodine administration
- Biopsy of thyroid nodules
- Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes
- Pituitary tumors and hormone deficiencies
- Osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease
- Parathyroid and calcium disorders
